Funeral services for Stelloise Watts Eades Basinger of Winona will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, at North Winona Baptist Church with Eastern Star rites.Burial will follow in Broom Cemetery near Coffeeville.  The Rev. Ed McDaniel will officiate the services.Pallbearers will be Troy Mitchell, Lawrence Braswell, Joe Don Jones, Marion Jones, Mike Smith and Don Eddins.Mrs. Basinger, 88, passed away at her home in Winona on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018. She was born on Oct. 18, 1930, to Winfred V. and Stella Crouch Watts. She was a retired bookkeeper for Liston and Lancaster in Winona and was a member and former Sunday School teacher at North Winona Baptist Church. She was a past Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star J.B. Small Chapter 19 and Worthy Grand Matron of the State of Mississippi Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Thomas Rodney Third Arrow Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.Mrs. Basinger is survived by her daughter Diane Eades Holloway of Gulfport; son John W. Eades III of Winona; sister, Carole Watts Graves and husband Bob of Winona; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband John L. Basinger; parents; sister Virginia Dare Watts Webb; stepson John L . “Johnny” Basinger Jr.; and first husband John W. Teen praised for victory garden; outstanding airmen named

Assistant County Agent Roland Alston said that Harold planted the plot, located on St. Charles highway two miles beyond Oswego, in March and April of this year. It is his first attempt planting a victory garden.- It was announced that the YMCA Centennial banquet, which is to be held at 8:30 at the YMCA, will be held on the ground floor, instead of the banquet hall as previously planned. Additional fans have been secured, and the building will be cool and comfortable. Ladies as well as men are invited to attend this celebration. This is an outstanding opportunity for the people of Sumter to hear an address by one of the leading YMCA laymen of the South, George M. Ivy of Charlotte.- The ceiling price of half-pint bottles of milk at all eating establishments with the exception of ball parks and swimming pools is six cents, L. F. Cuttino, price clerk of the War Price and Ration Board, reminded the public. Any consumer who is charged more than six cents for a bottled soft drink should report the overcharge to the ration board immediately, Mr. Cuttino said. - Three Sumter County boys, Paul K. Bowman Jr., Joseph W. Edens and Robert Walton Touchberry, were commissioned second lieutenants in the Army upon successful completion of the officer candidate course at the infantry school, Fort Benning, Georgia. All three are alumni of Clemson College. Lt. Bowman, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. K. Bowman of Dalzell, enlisted in the Army on Sept. 14, 1942. Lt. Edens, the son of Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Edens of RFD 4, Sumter, enlisted June 19, 1942. Lt. Touchberry, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Touchberry, enlisted in June of 1943.
